The Judas Moment

The Judas Moment

At some point in our faith, we each have to face the “Judas Moment Jesus will disappoint us.   At that critical moment, we decide: Is our faith in Jesus or the idol of expectation? Judas’ heart shifted from believer to betrayer. When Jesus stopped making sense within the limits of Judas’ expectations, he chose his idol.  John the Baptist, locked in a martyr’s holding cell wrestled with disappointment. Testimonies of miracles shook the streets, but his jail door remained unmoving. In his confusion, he sought answers:  “What about me?” The baby who proclaimed Jesus’ diety while locked in birth’s holding...

What I Learned from Painting my Fifteen-Year-Old Son’s Nursery

What I Learned from Painting my Fifteen-Year-Old Son’s Nursery

How do you freeze time without stifling growth? Isn't that every parent's question? How do you cling to every unique piece of their childhood yet avoid stunting the very thing you have invested your whole heart into nurturing? I literally didn't have a plan.  I just had a whim, and went for it.  As we lived around my great ideas for several days, we hashed out different ways we could shake things up and...

The Most Unsuccessful Perfect Birthday Party

The Most Unsuccessful Perfect Birthday Party

Somehow my little boy turned twelve. I’ve basically always been a 12 year old boy. I love the cheesy jokes and laugh WAY too much when somebody toots or trips when they were walking.  The older my kids get the more I like them. So far having a preteen has been endless fun.   This year, we decided to look completely at what Asher loved and plan a party from there. This seems obvious, but if I’m honest, most of my kid’s parties have been just as influenced by impressing the grown ups as reflective of our children’s desires...{thank you...
