Experiencing Wonder...Part Two

Experiencing Wonder...Part Two

On Friday, we experienced the wonder of Victoria Falls from the half cracked window of a moving van, speeding towards what we thought was the plan...then more slowly, with selfies when we pitifully drug our luggage back across the border, feeling the shock of plans denied.   On Saturday, our group decided that our best option was to settle into a life in Zambia until the United States could come pick us up. With that, we decided to go explore this natural wonder in depth before heading back to Lusaka. We started with a hike to the top of the...

Experiencing Wonder....Part One

Experiencing Wonder....Part One

Today was supposed to be a magical day, exploring Victoria Falls, one of the seven natural wonders of the world.  We couldn’t wait to be amazed by God’s powerful creation.   When I told my mom I was going, she smiled sweetly and told me that my grandmother, MaCile had always dreamed of seeing Victoria Falls. I never knew that.  She and my Papa Phillips had always planned to take each of their grandchildren on a special trip, to imbed in us a love of travel. That he would take care of whatever business was unsettled. Begging the Lord to move. Reminding Him He...

Out With the Old, In With the New

Out With the Old, In With the New

This weekend, the plan was to rearrange our bedroom.  Friday, I accidentally went to Home Depot, bought some paint, and repainted the kitchen--surprising Brad when he came home from work.  Like..surprise!  you married an idiot!  For the next several days, our house was a complete disaster.  No room--honestly not many spaces were unaffected.  He married a creative, he knew what he was getting-ish. I literally didn't have a plan.  I just had a whim, and went for it.  As we lived around my great ideas for several days, we hashed out different ways we could shake things up and...

The Most Unsuccessful Perfect Birthday Party

The Most Unsuccessful Perfect Birthday Party

Somehow my little boy turned twelve. I’ve basically always been a 12 year old boy. I love the cheesy jokes and laugh WAY too much when somebody toots or trips when they were walking.  The older my kids get the more I like them. So far having a preteen has been endless fun.   This year, we decided to look completely at what Asher loved and plan a party from there. This seems obvious, but if I’m honest, most of my kid’s parties have been just as influenced by impressing the grown ups as reflective of our children’s desires...{thank you...
